I am a botanical artist based in Nottingham. Botanical illustrations bridge the gap between art and science. The aim is to produce a painting that is botanically accurate whilst also pleasing to the eye. It is an endeavour that dates back to antiquity, and originally played a vital role in identifying and recording herbs and plants for medicinal use. Accurate illustrations of plants can be found in ancient Egypt, in medieval herbals, and of course in the records of the great scientific voyagers of discovery.
A love of flowering plants is my inspiration, with many subjects selected from my own garden, or from friends' gardens and allotments. Whereas I do sell original artwork, and accept commissions, my work is also available in various sized prints, greetings cards and decorative tiles. I also display and sell my work in local shops and craft markets (see Future Events page).
